Does your House Have Curb Appeal? Is it Clutter-Free?

Houses that are devoid of clutter and are specifically prepared with homebuyers in mind are easier to sell.

A home that is neat, tidy and clean will be more appealing to prospective homebuyers than a home that is cluttered, untidy and with an overgrown garden. An unkempt home will quickly put people off and they will look elsewhere. This article will give homeowners some tips on how to prepare their home so that when it goes on the market it sells for at least the asking price, if not higher.

Clear the Home of Clutter

A home that is cluttered will not go down well with prospective homebuyers. They will want to see a house that is spacious and airy. Even homes that are relatively small can be given the appearance of extra space, if household items are kept neatly stowed away in the appropriate rooms. That means toys, utensils and papers should not be strewn all over the floor, but picked up and kept in their proper place. The home should also be vacuumed and cleaned regularly.

De-personalise your Home

Potential homebuyers who visit your home will want to see a residence that fits their requirements. It is easier to achieve this aim if the home is devoid of traces of your family’s personal touch. The way to clear the home of personal touches is to start in the kitchen and remove magnets, drawings and photos from the fridge, so that it is bare. Then move to other parts of the home and place family photos in drawers for the time being. It will give new homebuyers more of a blank canvas to work with, so that they can imagine how their personal belongings will fit into your home.

Outside Appearance

Many homeowners make the mistake of concentrating on the inside of the house without paying attention to the outside of the property as well. It is important to make sure that the lawn is mowed, weeds are removed and the general outside appearance of the property is pleasing to the eye. A touch up of paint may be in order. It does not cost much, but the end result will be well worth it. It is important to bear in mind that the garden is the first thing that prospective homebuyers will notice and if they see that there has been no care taken on the outside of the home, they may wonder what the inside will be like.

Create the Right Atmosphere

A home that looks and feels warm and welcoming will be much more appealing to prospective homebuyers. Experiment with lighting, so that when people walk through each room, they can see the best features of the home. Soft music playing in the background can also set the scene. Some homeowners bake bread before a viewing, as it is proven to create the kind of atmosphere that will set the home apart from others.

Selling a home can be a much more successful enterprise if homeowners take the time to make their home look more attractive to potential homebuyers. They need to realize that if they want to sell their home with more ease, they will need to maintain a neat and tidy outside appearance, create the appearance of more space inside the home, and provide a warm, inviting atmosphere once they step over the threshold.
